Buying a Property or Land
The buying process in Spain can and should be a fairly simple procedure providing,
of course, that you employ the services of a solicitor. When you find the property
that you wish to purchase please be assured that all paperwork, including title
to both house and land, clear ownership, free of debts, permissions etc is checked
by the solicitor prior to paying any monies. Holding deposits etc are not necessary
and should not be paid to agents.
You may find that you run out of time on your first trip and this will mean
another visit to complete the purchase. This is preferable to paying a deposit
before the end of your holiday only to find there is a problem and you cannot
get your money back. If the property is worth buying then it is worth waiting
to be sure that everything is correct.
During the process and in the weeks that follow you will have lots of question
to ask. Again please be assured that we are here to guide you, not just to help
you to buy, but to help you settle into your new home and lifestyle. Our clients
in residence can testify to this on a face-to-face basis.
Enjoying your new lifestyle
Whether you will buy a new house, one requiring renovation or perhaps you will
build your own on a large plot of land with great views you will find that you
may have Spanish neighbours. There are no large urbanisations here and new laws
have been passed to ensure that the area does not become overbuilt. That is
why the Spanish neighbours will probably be the norm. They are happy, friendly
people and it is normal for them to visit at some stage bringing some of their
home-grown produce as a gift.
Living here is a rewarding experience. The lifestyle is totally stress free.
Goatherds in the fields with their flocks, tractors which really belong in museums
still work the fields and hillsides, donkeys plod along carrying baskets, drive
for miles without meeting another vehicle, park almost anywhere and not have
to pay, enjoy great food in the local ventas, beautiful unspoilt scenery, the
smiling faces, the sunshine, deep blue skies, the peace. It really is an escape
in time.
